AGNI Online

I’m happy to see that AGNI Online has posted “Living on That Land,” my interview with Elana Bell, whose poetry collection Eyes, Stones won the 2011 Walt Whitman Award. Please be sure to read her three excellent poems on the site. In addition to the two new poems, “What Else God Wanted” is reprinted from the collection, and it is representative of the book’s fraught imagery, which alternates between the tender and the savage as the poems endeavor to speak the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Home & Thanks

After meeting so many talented new artists and writers this summer, I’m back home. Thanks to the Sewanee Writers’ Conference and the Vermont Studio Center for tranquil environs, great readings, and a deepened sense of camaraderie.

AGNI Online

Check out “Training Ritual for Threat,” my interview with National Poetry Series winner Lauren Berry, at AGNI Online. It’s rife with her smart reflections about structuring and revising her first book. That book being the highly recommended The Lifting Dress, of course.

March Travel

Sophie and I are heading to Chicago for AWP at the beginning of March. After that, we’ll drive to Hattiesburg, MS, for the Mother/Nature Conference. Finally, at the end of March, we’ll fly to St. Louis, where I’ll be presenting a paper about small group discussion facilitators and online pedagogy at CCCCs.

Hope to run into some of you along the way!
